Babita Phogat faces backlash over controversial tweets on Tablighi Jamaat

Babita Phogat faces backlash over controversial tweets on Tablighi Jamaat

Today mostly everyone have heard about the girl in news Babita Phogat. She is a Wrestler-turned politician who recently has hit out at critics who slammed her over her controversial tweet that 'Jamaati' is a bigger problem than the novel coronavirus pandemic in India. That made her upbringer of the most trending news on twitter.
Taking to Twitter last week, Babita Phogat wrote in Hindi that coronavirus is the second biggest problem in India and that uncivilised Jamaati are India's number one.
Babita Phogat's statement came after Rangoli Chandel, manager and sister of Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut, posted a controversial tweet against Tablighi Jamaat group which led to her Twitter account being suspended.

Babita Phogat also defended Rangoli Chandel's tweet, saying Twitter is angry with those who speak the truth in the country. This has raised the question on truth that fearless Babita stands by.

Truth in my knowledge is the one that set every Human free from all the worries and fears. Tablighi Jamaat Markaz in Delhi's Nizamuddin came under the scanner of investigative agencies after it was found that hundreds of members of this group attended a congregation at the Markaz in March despite apprehensions about massive public gatherings owing to the Covid-19 outbreak. Hundreds of those who attended this congregation later tested positive for the infection.
A section of social media users slammed Babita Phogat and asked Twitter to suspend the BJP politician's account for the controversial post. "#SupendBabitaPhogat' has been among the top trends in India on the social media platform.
I have not written anything wrong: Babita Phogat
Reacting to the criticism, Babita Phogat, a Commonwealth Games gold medallist, said: Few days ago I had tweeted something, after that many people are sending me wrong messages on Facebook messenger, on WhatsApp and Twitter messenger, abusing me. Some people are even threatening via calls.
I want to say one thing to those people that keep in your mind that I am no Zaira Wasim who will get afraid by your threats and sit back at home. I am not afraid of your threats.
"I am Babita Phogat. I will always fight for my country and continue to speak like this. I have not written anything wrong in what I have tweeted. I hold my tweet correct. Because I have only written about those people who have spread coronavirus,” she said in a series of tweets.
Elder sister and wrestler Geeta Phogat also took to social media to defend Babita Phogat, saying they will continue to speak up by being fearless.

Swara Bhasker is trending yet again on Saturday after she schooled wrestler-politician Babita Phogat on her controversial tweet about Tablighi Jamaatis. Babita had kicked up a storm on social media recently with her religiously-charged tweet in which she said that the coronavirus pandemic was only India’s second concern as the Muslim sect was the first problem.

Countering Babita, Swara posted an image that displayed statistics of the footfall at various religious sites in the country, including Kerala’s Aatukal Pongala, Tirupati temple and ISCKON, Ahmedabad. As Tablighi Jamaat features way down on the list, Swara asked Babita if all the people who gathered at these places were also tested for COVID-19. She also drew Babita’s attention to the fact the Delhi police had granted permission for the Nizamuddin event.
Trolls, however, are not sparing Swara for coming out in support of the sect.

Later last week Babita said she stood by what she has tweeted.  "I stand by my tweets, I wrote nothing wrong," she told ANI.  In a video posted on Twitter, she said: "Over the past few days, I posted a few tweets (on Tablighi Jamaat). After that, I started getting threats on my social media handles. I would like to say that I am no Zaira Wasim. I would not get threatened.... I have always fought for my country. I stand by my tweets.... I wrote nothing wrong.” In the video, she defended her remarks against Tablighi Jamaat members.

The Tablighi Jamaat sect’s Nizamuddin event last month had turned into the country’s largest coronavirus hotspot, with attendees being quarantined and testing positive in states across the country. The state governments had conducted a massive operation to trace them.
But the thing is that with the surity of blaming  Jamaatis of spreading of COVID-19 in India is just one of many reasons of this widespread disease as the major is the foreigners returning to the homeland India mostly brought disease with them as its Wuhan origin virus so India being secular according to the constitution should not target mainly Muslim sect for this...
