The Prime Minister said that the government is closely monitoring the situation and that he will soon announce his next closure strategy, taking into account the needs of people from all segments of society and the holy month of Ramzan.

Islamabad: Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Monday that the intensity of the coronavirus pandemic in the country was not as severe as in other parts of the world. According to Dawn News reports, the Prime Minister said this while chairing a meeting on the impact of the pandemic on the social fabric and economy of the country on Monday.

According to the official press release of the meeting, it has been reported that the number of patients and deaths from coronavirus is lower than in other countries of the world.

A source close to the meeting told Dawn News that Khan was quite satisfied that the intensity of the new coronavirus was still low in Pakistan compared to other countries, especially the United States and Europe.

However, the Prime Minister urged people to keep a social distance, as it was the surest way to control the spread of the deadly virus in the country. 

The Prime Minister said that the government is closely monitoring the situation and that he will soon announce his next closure strategy, taking into account the needs of people from all segments of society and the holy month of Ramzan.

He also said that the government was developing a strategy to help the poor and the common man by maintaining a balance in the application of preventive measures and the revival of low-risk economic activities.
